Bedroom Lamps
Bedside light has one job the rest of the house does not: it has to be reachable half-asleep and soft enough not to wake you up properly. Every lamp here dims down low, and every switch sits where you can find it without looking.

Getting it right
Match the height to the bed, not the room
For most beds a lamp around 24–30 inches tall works. Sitting up against the pillows, the bottom of the shade should sit near shoulder height so the bulb stays screened from your eyes.
Leave the nightstand usable
A nightstand fills up fast with a phone, glasses and a book. Keep the lamp to roughly a third of the surface, or move it to the wall if the surface is genuinely narrow.
Warm and dimmable for night wakings
Around 2200K–2700K is soft enough for the middle of the night. Step up to 2700K–3000K if you read in bed for long stretches.
Common questions
- How tall should a bedside lamp be?
- For most beds, start around 24–30 inches tall overall. When you are sitting up in bed, the bottom of the shade should be close to shoulder height so the bulb is screened from your eyes. A tall mattress on a low nightstand may need a taller lamp.
- What colour light is best for a bedroom?
- Use roughly 2200K–2700K for winding down and gentle bedside atmosphere. For reading in bed, 2700K–3000K gives a little more clarity while still reading as warm.
- What is the best lamp for a small nightstand?
- Choose a compact base with a small footprint, or move the light to a wall or shelf, so the limited surface stays usable for a phone, glasses, water and a book.
